Update: Mexico Cave Diving Photos
I’ve added the underwater and some of the land shots from my recent cave diving trip to Mexico. I’ve also added several blog entries about the trip.

Long before I boarded Continental flight 634 from Houston Intercontinental Airport headed for Cancun and the Peurto Aventuras to begin my class with Steve Gerrard, we had been teased by his tentative plans for us. Steve like to keep everyone informed about his goings on. Late in the fall of 2005 Carl and I decided to take an advanced cave class consisting of DPV, Side-mount and Multi-staging from him. From that point in November I received an email every few weeks. Each email added slightly more detail about our class and included stories of other current students and their adventures.
Well, we just finished our final dive of the class, a spectacular 10,000 ft penetration in Nohoch Na Chich to the Blue Abyss. It was an incredible dive and went off more or less without a hitch. I even carried my camera and got some shots of the abyss, although my strobe will likely be to weak to get much of the HUGE room.
After 3 days of cave class, I’m having a blast. Today we did 2 scooter dives in Mayan Blue and then another swim dive in a small tight cenote (who’s name escapes me). All the dives were done in side mount.
Tomorrow we have one more side mount dive in Sistena Minitouro (sp?), a tight silty cave perfect for side mount. Then, in the afternoon, we begin staged scooter diving. Thursday and Friday will be single dive days consisting of 8,000 – 10,000 ft double stage dives using the scooter.
More later….
